Emma and Sophie

At our house, we love Sophie la Girafe. Sophie is a "classic" baby toy in France; millions of French babies have owned a Sophie. It's great for little hands and indispensable when it's teething time. Madeleine had one of her own and she loved that poor thing until it was beyond filthy and had lost most of its squeaky sound. We knew that Emma had to have one of her own!:

This is her first encounter with the beloved giraffe, and she's still not sure of it. But she'll grow to love Sophie, we're sure!

Frank's (early) birthday/Superbowl weekend

Here are some photos from the past weekend. Above is Madeleine hard at work on her next painting. As you can probably tell, the theme for this painting was "hearts".

Frank's birthday is Tuesday, but since he's traveling, we celebrated on Saturday night. Below is Frank with Emma, and an enormous chocolate ganache cake. Give it a year, kiddo, and you'll be able to have some of that cake.
Last night was the Superbowl--the Packers won, hooray! We had a picnic in our upstairs family room. Here's Emma and Madeleine. Madeleine decided to "fix" her hair and we let her keep the "unique" hair style for the day:

Emma's legs are getting stronger every day! (Of course, they were pretty strong to begin with, based on her kicking in utero):

Daddy and his baby girl:
Here's Madeleine with one of her favorite Christmas gifts, a Nintendo DS:

This photo was from this morning, during a change of pajamas. Emma's going through a bit of a rebellious phase when it comes to nap time. "Really, mommy, a 10-minute nap will suit me just fine." (NOT!) Even though she is unbelievably tired (and wearing just a little onesie on this cold winter day, before the new change of jammies), she had some smiles for mommy.
